So I have discovered the secret to soothing my screaming child (the 5 S's don't work for us). I put her in the Baby Bjorn, turn on her primary / nursery rhyme music and walk around till she falls asleep. (I use to have her listen to Madonna & Rap but Scott didn't approve :)). When I discovered this secret (just 2 days ago) it felt like a miracle comparable to Moses opening the waters..okay maybe not like that.
Now the problem is that it KILLS my back. As many of you know I have had a bad back since playing tennis in high school, and therefore have to go the chiropractor and massage therapist quite often (both of which I don't have time to do now that I have a baby). So do I choose to be in pain or to soothe my screaming for hours in the middle of night baby? Sorry body - but I choose to be in pain.
Yes, putting her in the bjorn doesn't help with her issue of always wanting to be held when sleeping (or awake) & hating her crib, but at 1:30 in the morning (EVERY MORNING) you will do anything to keep a child from screaming for 2 hours nonstop.
And that is my mommy blog post/tip/complaint of the day ...whatever you want to call it. Now I think it's time for a nap as my child is sleeping in the swing (someday I'll Scott will let her scream in the crib to teach her thats where babies sleep)

don't feel bad. kayson has yet to sleep in his bed too. kallie didn't sleep in her bed until she was 5 months old. she slept in the car seat. and the walk around with the carrier ALWAYS works because it is so painful... but only slightly less painful than listening to them scream. HAHA! they ALWAYS win. :)
ReplyDeleteThose things do hurt your back! I can only imagine how bad it gets when the baby is heavier/older. The screaming is was gets you. If I have to be up all night its okay but constant crying is hard...it does get easier:)
ReplyDeleteIt does get easier. Cade would only fall asleep in the carrier as well, and then he wouldn't stay asleep unless I kept him in the swing all night. Once he was in the habit of sleeping about four hours straight, I slowly transitioned to putting him on his back in the bassinet and letting him fall asleep there. It seemed to work. Just starting about 4 days ago he's been sleeping 7-8 hours straight. Amazing.
