So as many of you know I did the Ironman 70.3 Boise race on Saturday which consists of:
1.2 mile swim
56 mile bike
13.1 mile run
Working full time with a baby (plus cleaning the house, shopping, etc) made it very difficult to train so I slacked off ALOT. In fact I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to finish, so I just went into the race hoping to have fun and enjoy my nice swim, beautiful bike ride & run.
The swim was actually pretty easy, a little cold at first (53 degrees). I finished the 1.3 mile swim in 51 minutes
The last 20 miles of the bike were brutal since I didn't train to have endurance or strength to last 56 miles (Only rode 30 miles 3 times during training), but I LOVED the first 25 miles, it was perfect weather and SO pretty. Since I'm not a strong biker I did the 56 miles in 3 hrs 44 min (15 mph)
Because of the extra 15 lbs I'm a pretty slow runner compare to pre-baby shape (3 mph slower), but the run wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I completed the 13.1 miles in 3 hours (13 min/mile) and that includes me walking through every aid station each mile. A funny side note: Prior to the run I had to manually pump myself in the outhouse to 'relieve' the pressure, added quite a bit of time but there was no way I could run full of breast milk!
Go Pink! (LOVED my crompression socks)
I loved seeing Kadee Lynn although I don't think she enjoyed being dragged all over Boise
Me asking Scott how in the heck he does a full ironman & making sure he is keeping our baby happy
Finished 70.3 miles in 7 hours 48 minutes - the time above is for the first wave, I was the 10th wave
Nothing better than being with your family after a long day of pushing yourself
Kadee Lynn already appreciating music...jk this was to keep her ears protected from the loud noises
It was super tough, but I'm glad I did it. Surprisingly my body isn't that dead. If I ever do one again (which I don't think I will for quite a while) I will make sure I'm in MUCH better shape. It was nice having mine and Scott's family there to support me. Family support is so motivating and makes it SO much more enjoyable. I was always looking forward to seeing them.
You did amazing Tammy! I am so proud of you! Thanks for doing it in Boise so we could be a part of the cheering!!!
