So for the past 3 years we have been going to Bear Lake, and I always look forward to it. Usually the Taylor family comes, but this year we were the only ones that continued the tradition. Because cabins are too expensive with just us, we decided we would try camping with a 20 month year old and only stay 1 night. It got really cold so at 12:30 Kadee Lynn woke up crying and wouldn't sleep with us (surprise, surprise). So what did I do? I drove around a parking lot for 4 hours!! She watched baby einstein, cried, whined, sang, laughed, cried, and finally fell asleep when I propped her carseat in the front seat laying down (don't judge...I was in a parking lot at 3:00 am by myself). Because we put Scott's bike in the car I got to sleep sitting straight up jammed against the steering wheel...at least we had the heater, Scott froze to death once I left and didn't have me to cuddle with.
Scott did the Sprint Triathlon - with no training like most of his races these days due to our busy little girl keeping him occupied. It was 50 degrees outside when the race started...he didn't want to get out of the water. His feet and hands were numb the entire bike ride, and he didn't get feeling back in race till it was 2/3 over...oh and he threw up on the race (poor guy - the point of triathlons is to have fun). Kadee Lynn and I woke up just in time of see him pass our campsite on the run. I felt horrible not being there from start to finish but he understood.
At least Kadee Lynn had a blast spending 2 days at the beach. We ended up not staying as long on Saturday due to how sleep deprived we were...and there was no way Kadee Lynn would nap...especially with sand to play with near by! Bear Lake is just perfect for young kids because of the shallow water. I spent so much time finding her a life jacket and she didn't even need it. I could spend every day at the beach...I just lay there and watch her play in the sand for hours and don't have to constantly entertain her. :)
My dad came up on Saturday to spend the day with us. I think he wasn't quite sure what to do at a lake without a boat! Sure was nice of him to drive so much to spend just a few hours with us. As usual, Kadee Lynn was very excited to see him.
So that was our annual Bear Lake trip. Hopefully next year will be more successful and have more family. It took us going to bed early, having lots of naps today, and being extremely lazy to finally feel normal again...it was an exhausting night of no sleep. Don't think she will be camping again without a successful test in the backyard first :). Oh and yes we did take more photos with us...but they were horrible so they got immediately deleted.
oh you poor thing!! that sounds like one heck of a rough night! at least kadee lynn and grandpa had fun. :)
