What's been happening in July so far...

Happy 4th of July
Hope all of you had a great 4th of July.  It was the first time in quite a while that Scott had a holiday off -yeah!  Scott went for a 15 mile run in the morning while Kadee Lynn & I went on a 3 mile - she loves how she can sit up in the stroller.  We then went up Payson Canyon just 20 minutes away to go on a little hike to the grotto.  Of course Kadee Lynn fell asleep 5 minutes prior to us getting there.  With us living so close, we decided to bag the hike, and just enjoy the drive up the canyon.  Later that night I went to the block party while Scott stayed home with sleeping Kadee Lynn.  Although it started pouring rain, so I went home and enjoyed watching the block's fireworks from our family room window...although many of the fireworks were too high for  me to see.  This year Utah changed their laws where there is no limit to how high a firework can be -- oh yeah!  Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Home-made baby food
So I started making my own baby food to save money, but was surprised how much Kadee Lynn LOVES it.  She actually now hates store bought vegetable baby food - which is a bit problematic when we are out & about (oh well she'll learn).  Its also so much easier to make than I had anticipated.  Just cook, puree, & freeze in icecube trays.  I joke with Scott that I don't make him dinner (note the frozen taquitos) but our daughter has homemade food (although tonight I did make chicken curry, to make up for not cooking the last 2 weeks).  Just for those wondering how much cheaper it is.  Well it's usually about .05 - .15 cents per 2 oz. (=2 cubes) depending on the cost of the food.  Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to make apple chicken.  We'll see how that goes or if I just need to stick the fruit & veggies.  Last year when Scott bought me a food processor, I remember wondering what in the world I would use it for besides tomato soup....definitely using it now!

Playroom or Family Room?
Kadee Lynn's toys have overtaken our family room.  This is actually pretty clean, as most of her toys are put away.  With her rolling around we had to get a bigger quilt.  My mom gave me a quilt my great-grandma made, so I was excited about that.  It's a good thing we don't have many visitors, because we have the front door blocked off with boxes of baby clothes I need to go through.  Who would of known a baby can make your house feel so small when it felt huge before!
